September 2008

We had a lovely evening before I left with dinner for twenty people at the Jam Factory in Oxford.

(R: Trevor and Lydia Hannon who rides ESB Irish Honour and Exhibit.)

After saying farewell to all the Team ESB crew in the UK, I was off to the States to visit Ashley Leith and my darling Doc.

Will Enzinger rode and campaigned Doc at 3* level in Australia before Ashley flew over and bought him in July 2007.
This little horse is not the most conventional and is certainly NOT the normal ESB type but he is a phenomenal character and a great jumper. He has two full brothers (Harmony and Feeling) and they all look just like their mother.

She loves him and is competing this weekend at Fairhill Horse Trials in the US.

Ashley uses the spa pool to prepare Doc and he had no complaints as he strode the treadmill in deep water. It is great for increase their fitness without concussion on their legs.

I went down to Plantation Horse Trials to talk riders and owners about Team ESB. This was a lovely venue and the weather was just perfect.

Before I left, Ashley and I drove up to New York to have a look around. It was amazing, I never seen so many tall buildings! They just kept coming, streets and streets of them, so that it was actually quite dark to drive around. We went down to see the site of the Twin towers which was actually a bit scary as I tried to imagine the chaos, dust and noise of September 11.

We found a lovely restaurant on the water and had dinner, entertained by the turtles playing in the water and overlooking the skyline of the city.

What an amazing place!!

Now it is time to go home and face the music. After five and a half months away ...
